Teaching computing

ENSICO (a non-profit organization) promotes the teaching of computer science for all students in Basic and Secondary Education. We believe that learning computing is fundamental to building the core body of knowledge that every young person should acquire in an age in which scientific and technological literacy is increasingly important, and where information is largely processed by machines with high computational capacity.

The ENSICO is available and ready to be adopted by public and private schools seeking to incorporate an educational offering that positions computing as a fundamental subject alongside mathematics and the mother tongue. In doing so, it reinforces the importance of computing for the personal, social, economic, and cultural development of students, while preparing them for a world increasingly shaped by AI.

Pedagogical Resources

The learning approach we propose focuses primarily on concepts, some of them quite advanced, drawn from the fields of language, mathematics, and, of course, computer science.

Many of these concepts are introduced through narratives that unfold around stories and characters living in a fantasy world. Within this world, learning progresses rapidly, enabling students, during the first two years, to explore the fundamental building blocks found in most modern programming languages.

In other words, we can think of computer science as the body of knowledge that allows us to transform a computer into a magic wand. We therefore invite students and teachers to join us on a journey through the fascinating world of computing.

Activity Books

During the first two years of Primary Education, ENSICO adopts an unplugged approach to learning, using captivating stories and characters to introduce fundamental computing concepts in an engaging and accessible way.
